I agree, partly. Yes, it comes across as very self-indulgent. I don’t see how it devalues the stories of her ancestors, however, I do understand why you’d think that. I see this video as a way for her to interact with her ancestors almost, plus it’s kinda fun and an interesting experiment.
Of course, in a way, the images of her forebears ARE a background for her story. Not JUST a background, but a background nonetheless – they essentially made her who she is, they’re part of her history.
