I like these a lot. I bought them for my laundry room and they have been a breeze. I didn't have any problem with a smell. They smelled like rubber, but it wasn't strong and it didn't last.

They look great and are tougher than I thought they would be, a huge improvement over the cheap foam ones I have had in the past... and they are recycled materials, not some processed junk.

Really easy to put down and pull up, sometimes I'll take one of them out in the garden to kneel on.

These things are great! Really isn't a puzzle at all.

purchased this to put under treadmill and weight set (works great), and the kids loved it, and wanted it in their rooms, so I ordered several different colors, and let them mix/match to their liking. After placing 3 or 4 tiles (they interlock easily and securely), realized that the strong plastic smell was a problem. I left them in the garage with the windows open for a week or so, and the aroma went away mostly (may want to wait until open window weather arrives). We have used them on top of concrete, veneer "wood" flooring (where they are great sound insulators), and in one room on top of some gruesome shag carpet, where they work very well, and have some extra spring, but we do have the occasional shag fiber pop up through the seams. The are tough to sweep, but vacuum up easily with the beater bar turned off (or they get scratched)-would have been 5 stars but for the initial smell.

I bought this product for a home gym and had two big disappointments. First, it has a really strong odor - maybe it gets better over time but we didn't wait to find out. Second, I bought the blue/white specked color (for whatever reason doesn't appear to be offered right now) and there was a huge variation in color on the tiles. Overall it was a very marginal looking very smelly floor. Make sure this is really what you are looking for before buying.
